An explosion rocked the Wireless Gate area as an old three-storey building came crashing down around 7:30pm on Sunday.
The blast was so powerful that the shock wave smashed the glasses of nearly a dozen buildings around it while also hitting the Aarong outlet which was located beyond a flyover on the other side of the road.

At least six people were killed and 50 others injured in a huge explosion on the ground floor of a three-storey building in the capital s Moghbazar last evening.
Officials of Fire Service and Civil Defence and a bomb disposal unit of police primarily suspected gas leakage to be the source of the explosion at the building on Outer Circular Road.

Following a massive explosion, a commercial building collapsed in Bangladesh s national capital Dhaka on Sunday, killing at least seven people and leaving 50 others injured. Although the authorities initially suspected it to have been caused by gas cylinder blasts, the exact cause of the blast is still not known, the local media reported. A five-member committee has been formed to investigate the explosion.

In a horrific explosion, seven people, including a child, died and 70 others were injured at Moghbazar Wireless Gate area in Dhaka on Sunday evening. The police initially said it was a gas explosion but fire service and civil defence did not confirm anything and reserved it till the investigation gets completed.
Of the injured, 29 have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and 10 others to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Institute. The remaining injured were taken to several hospitals in the Maghbazar area premises.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner visited the accident spot and said that they could not find any evidence supporting the incident as a terror attack. He added that the incident is likely to have taken place due to a gas explosion.
