On Day 1, colleges adopt mix of online and offline classes | Ranchi News

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has given its nod to start physical classes for colleges from Thursday but on Day 1, many constituent and affiliated colleges of the University of Ranchi have adopted both offline and online classes to avoid crowding on campus and ensure Covid-19 safety rules. Earlier, the registrar of the university had issued a notification to all constituent and affiliated colleges to open their campus from March 1 after carrying out cleaning and sanitization work for two days. The colleges have also been directed to follow the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines during the classes. However, the Ram Lakhan Singh College here has started offline classes and continued with the live streaming of the classes for those who want to attend them online.

Ranchi: The first senate meeting of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) on Wednesday witnessed unruly scenes after students resorted to protests to demand their inclusion in the proceedings. Later, after the local administration intervened, the protestors were allowed. Governor Droupadi Murmu, who was expected to attend the meeting, had to change her schedule in the wake of agitation and later, she addressed the senate online from the Raj Bhavan. Earlier in the day, members of the DSPMU Chhatra Sangh gheraoed vice-chancellor S N Munda and shouted slogans in support of their demand. Union leader Amandeep Munda said they had earlier requested the V-C to include them in the proceedings, but they were not paid heed to.

Ranchi: Governor Droupadi Murmu on Sunday launched the International Documentation Centre for Endangered Indigenous Languages and Culture at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University on the occasion of International Mother Language day. Speaking on the occasion, Murmu said she was hopeful that the centre, which will run in collaboration with Kiel University Germany, will help in conservation and promotion of languages of the state which are spoken by a large number of people, but have not got due recognition. She said the New Education Policy has also emphasised on mother language, adding the step will help in improved expression of knowledge and innovative ideas among people.

Picture used for representational purpose only RANCHI: Almost 11 months after the lockdown was announced to curb the spread of Covid-19, Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) has decided to resume offline classes in a phased manner in the coming days, a university official said. Professor Manoj Kumar said physical classes on the university campus were already taking place for experiment-oriented research works and the university has decided to open its hostel for research scholars from February 15. He said, “We will monitor the situation for some time and, if the Covid situation is conducive, resume offline practical classes for other post-graduate students. The classes will be operated as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines issued recently. As of now, white-washing and sanitization of the university building is in progress.”
