Socialist Seattle city councilmember Kshama Sawant’s office withheld a claim about death threats, an issue she said the city didn’t take seriously, in order to get more news coverage.
Sawant complained at the time that a series of email threats she received were being ignored by police and city officials. She demanded a more urgent law enforcement response, effectively asking for (and receiving) special treatment.

COLLINS, Miss. (WDAM) - As the Pine Belt prepares for potential severe weather Wednesday, a group of volunteers continues to help families affected by last Aprilâs tornadoes.
Case workers from the Covington County Long Term Recovery Committee and Recover, Rebuild, Restore Southeast Mississippi (R3SM) met at âThe Springsâ Church is Collins Tuesday morning.
The groups are still assisting on several home repairs and a few rebuilding projects from the Easter 2020 tornadoes.

Despite estimations that one in ten women suffers from endometriosis, a condition that causes pain in your lower tummy or back, severe period pain and pain during or after sex, it currently takes an average of seven and a half years to be diagnosed. This is largely due to perceptions that pain related to periods is to be expected or is “normal”. A new campaign by AMV BBDO for feminine care brand Libresse aims to tackle this issue, supporting earlier diagnosis while highlighting the “gender pain gap”.

Candidates File For Area City And School Board Positions Many area cities and schools will not need elections after the filing period for the Saturday, May 1, election date ended recently, while a few others will need elections to fill spots. The City of Hillsboro will be canceling its election after all incumbents filed to keep their seats and were uncontested. Mayor Andy Smith and council members Eric Fleming (Precinct 1), Dana Robinson (Precinct 3) and Leann Richmond (Precinct 5) all filed and were unopposed. Hillsboro Independent School District (ISD) will also not need an election after there were no contested races at the end of filing. Incumbents Dr. Chris Teague (at large) and Amanda Scarborough (District 1) filed to keep their seats and will be unopposed. Brooke Thompson, who was recently appointed to fill the position vacated by Earl Bibles, filed for that unexpired term and was the only candidate to file.
