Wednesday’s COVID-19 numbers
The COVID-19 update from the province on Friday saw six additional deaths listed, including a woman in her 90s in the Prairie Mountain Health region from the McCreary/Alonsa Health Centre.
The province reported 154 new cases, as follows: 18 cases in the Interlake–Eastern health region; 70 cases in the Northern health region; eight in the Prairie Mountain Health region; 10 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and 40 cases in the Winnipeg health region.
One case was removed because of a data correction, making the net increase 153 cases.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate in Manitoba is 9.5 per cent, and 6.7 per cent in Winnipeg.

Manitoba public health officials reported eight additional deaths due to COVID-19 on Sunday, the highest single-day total in almost a week. On Tuesday, eight deaths were reported along with 92 new cases of the virus, the fewest since 80 were announced on Oct. 19.
The deaths include two Manitobans linked to Winnipeg outbreaks: a woman in her 70s from Health Sciences Centre GA4; and a man from the Southeast Personal Care Home, also in his 70s. As well, a man in his 30s, two more in their 70s and two women in their 90s from Winnipeg and a man in his 70s from the Northern health region also passed away.

Manitoba public health officials reported 180 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday as well as an outbreak in a hospital in a community in northern Manitoba which has seen a massive spike in new cases recently. The total number of lab-confirmed cases is now 27,322.
The Northern health region continues to be hard hit by the virus, including in Lynn Lake, Thompson and Garden Hill First Nation, leading to a disproportionate number of cases relative to population size.
