A 4-year-old boy was killed in an Arlington, Texas, apartment in the first hour of the new year when police say he was apparently shot by a man dancing and celebrating with a firearm just after the clock struck midnight.
The boy, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as Messiah Taplin, was shot about 12:30 a.m. Friday and died just after 1 a.m. at a local hospital, police said.
Tim Ciesco, a spokesman for the Arlington Police Department, told ABC News the child was shot in the head. He said the New Year s reveler who allegedly discharged his gun has been arrested and jailed on suspicion of killing Messiah.

(ARLINGTON, Texas) A 4-year-old boy was shot and killed in Arlington, Texas, in the first hour of the New Year, according to police.
The boy, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as Messiah Taplin, was shot about 12:30 a.m. Friday and died just after 1 a.m. at a local hospital, police said.
Police said they have detained “persons of interest” for questioning in the homicide investigation. But no arrests have been made.
Officers went to an apartment complex in the north part of the suburban Dallas city after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots, the Arlington Police Department said in a statement.

A 4-year-old boy died early New Year s Day after he was shot around 12:30 a.m., Arlington police said.
Later in the day, Zantyler Foster-Hooks, 21, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection to the boy s death.

Officers said they found a blood trail at a nearby apartment when responding to a shooting call at an apartment complex early New Year s Day on the 700 block of Washington Drive.
They went into an unlocked apartment and found what police described as a crime scene inside, though no one was there.

were killed in separate accidental shootings in Arlington during New Year’s celebrations, and police made an arrest in each case, police said Friday.
A 21-year-old man was charged with manslaughter in the boy’s death. He told police he had been mimicking a music video with a gun in his hand when it accidentally fired, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed by Arlington police.
