Currently, the Texas Supreme Court is considering ExxonMobil’s petition of review, which asserts California municipalities and a Massachusetts lawyer are attempting to chill speech and commandeer public policy, subjecting them to personal jurisdiction in Texas courts.
On May 6, Abbott filed a brief in support of Exxon, asking the Supreme Court to grant the petition for review in order to “resolve an important legal question with major implications for the energy sector in the State of Texas.”

Tarrant County’s Chief Medical Examiner is retiring at the end of September amid calls for investigations into the office, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.

The Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association has requested an independent investigation of the county medical examiner’s office after an audit found that a deputy chief medical examiner had made dozens of mistakes in homicide cases over a 10-month period.

The request, made at Tuesday’s Tarrant County Commissioners Court meeting, referred to an audit of 41 homicide cases that concluded Dr. Marc Krouse had made errors in at least 27 cases from Jan. 1 to Nov. 9 of 2020.
