Letters: Rename middle school after local Black educator

To the members of Princeton Public Schools Board of Education: As faith leaders, we believe that the names of our schools should speak to the best of where we have been and who we are, and inspire us to what we seek to become. We were encouraged when in 2020 the Princeton Public Schools decided to listen to the principled appeals of justice-loving communities in Princeton and remove the name of “John Witherspoon” from our local middle school as a remnant of a legacy of slavery, white supremacy, and racial injustice. We were also encouraged when the leadership of our public schools wisely decided to give the community at large (students and community) the opportunity to contribute to the decision-making process for the renaming of the middle school. Democratic decision-making is a hallmark of so many of our healthiest communities and best practices.

Unconventional Nelson back in Big D By Marc Stein Special to ESPN.com As he prepares to slide back into his padded, custom-made hot seat on the Dallas Mavericks bench, Don Nelson wants to reassure everyone that he s the same Nellie as before. Nelson s ways are unconventional, but they are working this year. Unlike anyone else in his profession, to this day. Not that we need him to tell us. It has been evident all season in Big D, even before Nelson conquered The Big C, more by the manner in which he reacted to prostate cancer than those quirky lineups and unorthodox

Cole Anthony Did Something Only Two Other Rookies Since 1996 Have Done

ORLANDO - Since the 1996-97 season, only three NBA players in their rookie campaign have made two or more last-second game-winning shots. One of them is the Orlando Magic’s Cole Anthony, who most recently drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer with one-tenth of a second left against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night at Amway Center. The other two players who accomplished this in their first year in the NBA, per Stathead, were Tyreke Evans in 2009-10 and Trae Young in 2018-19. Each of their game winners, however, were two-point shots, meaning Anthony is the only rookie since 1996-97 to make a pair of game-winning threes with under a second remaining.
