HALIFAX Nova Scotia RCMP say they arrested three drivers on Sunday for impaired driving offences in the Halifax area. Around 11:20 a.m. on May 9, Halifax District RCMP say they stopped a vehicle in Dartmouth after the driver was showing signs of impairment. Police say they asked the 27-year-old driver to provide a breath sample. The Dartmouth man failed the test and was brought to the Cole Harbour Detachment and was later released, according to police. Officers say the driver will face charges of impaired operation of a conveyance and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
HALIFAX Halifax District RCMP have charged a 51-year-old Dartmouth man with assault with a weapon and impaired driving after a pedestrian was struck in Lower Sackville, N.S. Police said in a news release that they responded to a complaint of dangerous driving on Brooks Street at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday. Further information indicated the car had also struck someone, the RCMP wrote in a news release. The man struck did not appear injured. Police say they later located the vehicle on Old Sackville Road where the driver showed signs of impairment. Police say they arrested the driver and took him to the Lower Sackville RCMP detachment where a drug recognition expert determined he was impaired by drugs.
HALIFAX Police have charged a 39-year-old woman from Eastern Passage, N.S., with attempted murder after she allegedly drove a car over a man on Jan. 10 in Westphal. The man was travelling in a car with a woman known to him, the RCMP wrote in a news release. The man was dropped off at a home and he stood behind the car when it backed up. The man was struck by the car and dragged a short distance. Police say the 36-year-old man suffered serious injuries and a neighbour took him to the hospital. The RCMP arrested the woman and brought her to the Cole Harbour detachment.
HALIFAX The police have arrested two Halifax area residents for impaired driving Wednesday after both provided breath samples twice the limit. At 10:25 a.m. on April 14, the RCMP stopped a vehicle on Cow Bay Road in Eastern Passage, N.S., after the driver was showing signs of impairment. Police say the driver, a 39-year-old man from Cole Harbour, N.S., provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit. He was transported to the RCMP s Cole Harbour detachment and later released. Approximately two hours later, the police also arrested a 48-year-old man from Hammonds Plains, N.S., who was showing signs of impaired driving. The RCMP stopped the vehicle on Hammonds Plains Road in Upper Tantallon, N.S. after police say his breath sample was twice the limit.
HALIFAX Two men have been arrested and charged following a vehicle pursuit by police, resulting in the seizure of a firearm. On Tuesday around 4:15 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the area of Windmill Road and Victoria Road in Dartmouth after receiving reports of an impaired driver. Police say they located the vehicle in the area. When emergency equipment was activated, the vehicle did not stop and attempted to flee officers. Police were eventually able to stop the vehicle following a brief pursuit. The driver, 23-year-old Zachery Austin Haines-Matthew, was arrested on scene. Matthew was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Thursday to face charges of criminal flight from police.
