New London Hospital discovers data breach from last summer Staff Report Modified: 3/12/2021 9:19:21 PM NEW LONDON New London Hospital experienced a data breach revealing patient names, demographic information and Social Security numbers last summer, the hospital announced this week. An investigation determined it was “the target of a cyber incident” in which a third party gained access to a file on the hospital’s network on July 30, the hospital said in a notice posted to its website. “Cyber-crimes targeting hospitals are at an all-time high and NLH continues to implement appropriate safeguards to protect patient information,” hospital CEO Tom Manion said in the post.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock to bring geriatric ER care to rural hospitals

LEBANON — Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health and West Health recently announced that they will provide telehealth services and geriatric emergency department training, education and other resources to four rural hospitals in a two-phase “hub and spoke” approach. The first two hospitals to receive telemedicine support from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center will be Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, and Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, Vt., both members of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health system. Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont and Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vt., will be brought on in Phase 2. All four spoke sites will gain access to supplemental telehealth services provided by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with an emphasis on geriatric nursing, transitional care management and support of on-call geriatricians.
