GP surgery tells patients to disregard Government s advise on Covid vaccine A GP surgery has told patients to disregard the Government s advice to call their GP if they are over 70 and still waiting for a vaccine. Yarm Medical Practice in Yarm, near Stockton, said its situation has not changed following the Health Secretary Matt Hancock s advice to call GPs last night. On Monday, Mr Hancock urged people in England aged over 70 to contact the NHS if they had not yet secured an appointment to have the Covid vaccine. During the Downing Street press conference, Mr Hancock urged people to use the national booking service online, call 119 or speak to their local GP surgery.

Darlington MP Peter Gibson was volunteering at Feethams House on Sunday as part of the effort to vaccinate the town. The programme is being run by Darlington s Primary Care Network, while a team of volunteers is being organised by Darlington Cares to make sure there are help on hand to escort people, guiding them through the building if they need assistance and making sure they leave safely.
THOUSANDS of elderly and vulnerable people have now vaccinated in Darlington – but not without the help of the team of volunteers who have been making sure they get to their appointments. About 60 volunteers have been helping out at the Covid hub at Feethams House in Darlington, come rain, snow or ice. More than 10,000 vaccinations have so far been administered since the programme started in January, with around 500 people getting jabs each day. Yvonne Coates, who did her first shift in mid January, got involved after helping out at the drive-through flu vaccination programme, which was held at Darlington arena in the autumn.
