A GROUP of knitters have shown some Christmas spirit, supporting causes they care about in the community, whilst surpassing a goal. The Lorton Street Knit and Natter Group based in Cockermouth Methodist Church have begun the next stage of their journey by supporting West Cumbrian care homes and North Lakes Foodbank. The group have donated their handmade knitted trees to care homes including: Abbey Fields, Hames Hall, Holmewood, Dalton Court and Kirkgate, bringing some joy to the residents at Christmas. Member of the group, Tori Jones said: “Now we prepare to go on to the streets and the front of our church, to leave the trees, safely packed in plastic pouches, for all to take with our love.
