Dalby man choked young woman in terrifying drunken attack

Premium Content Subscriber only A YOUNG woman had to run for safety when a drunk Dalby man choked her before chasing her along Drayton St in a frightening late night attack. Leeton Neil Hedge, 22, faced Dalby Magistrates Court via video link charged with common assault in a public place while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance. The court heard police were called to the Gallery Motor Inn about 2.10am on October 18, in relation to a young woman who had been assaulted. Police spoke to the victim who gave her version of the events from 12.30am to 2.10am that evening. The court heard she left the Criterion Hotel on foot to McDonald s with Hedge about 12.30am, and visited the fast food establishment while Hedge stayed at the Freedom Fuels service station.

Layla Cheyne North did not attend Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday for her first mention, after police charged her in November. Ms North, 18, is alleged to have committed a public nuisance at the Dalby McDonald s about 12.30am on November 20. Court documents allege she was repeatedly twerking, performing handstands and stumbling around the restaurant and attempting to grab a mop. Layla Cheyne North did not attend Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday when her matter was mentioned but the court was told she intended to plead guilty to the charges.
