Sixers bounce back, beat Hawks 118-102 in Game 2 to even series

The Atlanta Hawks took on the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2 of a best of seven series Tuesday evening, looking for a 2-0 series lead before the teams head to Atlanta for Game 3. The Sixers took control of this one in the final period after threatening to run away with the game multiple times earlier in the game, and ultimately took home the 118-102 win.
Joel Embiid was back in the fold again for Game 2, while De’Andre Hunter missed his second consecutive game for the Hawks. The Sixers got off to a blazing start, leading 23-6 just a few minutes into play. The home team had 24 points in the paint in the opening quarter, and Atlanta was fortunate to only be down by 13 after the first 12 minutes.
Joel Embiid scored a career playoff high 40 points and added 13 rebounds as the top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers toppled the Atlanta Hawks 118-102 on Tuesday to level their Eastern Conference series at one game each.
Hawks F De Andre Hunter to have knee surgery, done for season

Atlanta Hawks forward De Andre Hunter will undergo surgery this weekend after a MRI revealed a small tear in the lateral meniscus of his right knee.
Hunter, 23, will have the surgery in Los Angeles. He will miss the remainder of the postseason.
Hunter started all five games against the New York Knicks in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs but began to experience swelling in the knee ahead of Game 1 against Philadelphia in the conference semifinal.
Hunter played just 23 games during the regular season due to issues with the same knee. He underwent a lateral meniscus debridement procedure in February and had a non-surgical procedure on the sore right knee in April.

The Hawks return to Atlanta beaming with confidence in their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Philadelphia 76ers despite their inability to slow down, much less stop, Joel Embiid.
The 76ers big man has scored 79 points in the first two games at Philadelphia to open the series, which is tied 1-1 heading into Friday s Game 3 in Atlanta where the Hawks have won 13 consecutive games.
