By U.S. Attorney s Office for the Western District of Louisiana issued the following announcement on May 11. In honor of National Police Week, Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook recognizes the service and sacrifice of federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement. This year, the week was observed Sunday, May 9 through Saturday, May 15, 2021. “Police Week is an opportunity for us to honor our law enforcement officers in Louisiana and across the United States,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook. “The men and women who serve as law enforcement officers are the unsung heroes in our communities today. They work long hours for little pay and put their lives on the line every single day when they put on their uniform to go out into our communities and serve and protect us as citizens from those who choose to reject the rule of law in our nation. Funeral Saturday for woman killed in Mansfield; alleged shooter faces more charges

MANSFIELD, La. Sunflowers are popping up all over Facebook in memory of a Mansfield woman killed Monday during an armed robbery where she worked.  Many friends and family members have changed their Facebook profiles or shared images of sunflowers for Lynda Palmer, who was known for her love of flowers, especially sunflowers. She and her late husband, Joe Palmer, would plant a row every summer in his garden.  Funeral visitation for the Palmer family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. The funeral service is at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Crews got the call around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, April 12 to the Best Western in the 600 block of Jenkins Street in Mansfield. All Mansfield schools and DeSoto Parish School Board offices were placed on lockdown for a time Monday morning while law enforcement officials worked the scene.

(KSLA) - According to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle crashed into a residence on April 4 at approximately 11:16 p.m. Officials say the vehicle was traveling north on Jacob’s Street in Mansfield when for unknown reasons it left the roadway. The vehicle then crossed over West Street and crashed into a residence near the 700 block of Jacob’s Street. Upon arrival, Mansfield police officers determined that the vehicle had left the scene but had caused moderate damage to the residence.
