Italy Signals It Will Reopen to U.S. Travelers in June AFAR 5/13/2021

Twist our arm.Earlier this month Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi stated that Italy could be open to foreigners by mid-May, but he did not specify which foreign travelers and whether those from the United States would be included.
Now, Italy’s Foreign Affairs Minister Luigi Di Maio has shed a little more light on who is likely to be able to enter Italy and when.
“The aim is to reopen to visitors from foreign countries that have reached a high level of vaccination, loosening some measures as early as mid-May,” Di Maio said in a recent Facebook post.

BRUSSELS – In an announcement sure to be welcomed by travelers worldwide, EU officials on Monday proposed easing restrictions on visiting the 27-nation bloc as vaccination campaigns across the continent gather speed.
Travel to the EU is now extremely limited except for a handful of countries with low infection rates. But with the summer season looming, the European Commission hopes the new recommendations will help dramatically expand that list.
“The Commission proposes to allow entry to the EU for nonessential reasons not only for all persons coming from countries with a good epidemiological situation, but also all people who have received the last recommended dose of an EU-authorized vaccine, the EU s executive arm said.

Serbian citizens will be able to download a digital green certificate attesting they have been vaccinated or tested negative to the virus, the Serbian government’s Office for IT and eGovernment has announced.
“The Digital Green Certificate is a unified certificate proving that you have received a vaccine against COVID-19 and that you have the results of testing for the SARS-CoV-2 infectious disease. That certificate has a qualified electronic stamp and cannot be falsified or abused,” said Office Director Mihailo Jovanović.
In addition to personal information – first and last name, personal ID number, gender, and passport number – the certificate also contains data on whether a person has been vaccinated, the number of doses received and the date of administration of the first and second dose, as well as the results of a PCR, antigen or serological test.
