MDEC and CIMB Islamic sign MoU providing RM25 million to scale AgTech pilot

Cyberjaya, 2 April 2021: The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad (“CIMB Islamic”) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on extending an extensive micro-financing programme with an allocation of RM10 million as an initial funding package to catalyse Digital Agriculture Technology (Digital Agtech) in Malaysia. This allocation has the potential to be increased to RM25 million as the programme progresses.
MDEC, a long-time proponent of digitalising the agriculture sector, via a public-private partnership with the Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan Kuala Langat (PPKKL), initiated a pilot project in 2018 to spur yield and quality of crops utilising the latest technologies. Cyberjaya, 1 April 2021: Continuing its ‘Reinvent’ mission, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) announced Razif Abdul Aziz as its new Vice President of Investment and Grants. Razif will manage the ongoing and upcoming initiatives to drive investments in Malaysia’s digital economy and to manage grants distribution across all MDEC programmes. He will report to Raymond Siva, Senior Vice President of Investment and Brand, and CMO of MDEC.
Of immediate importance, Razif will lead the efforts to strengthen the integrity of the grants framework and institutionalising best practices in the evaluation, disbursement and monitoring of all MDEC-managed grants and its alignment to MDEC’s investment attraction objectives.
MDEC Allocates RM14 Million to 70 SMEs and Start-Ups to Strengthen the Digital Ecosystem

Cyberjaya, 1 April 2021: The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) announced today that it has approved another RM10.5 million worth of grants benefiting 50 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups. Additionally, MDEC is in the midst of disbursing RM3.5 million worth of grant claims to 20 recipients, mainly from the digital creative content industry.
The grant allocation is part of MDEC’s initiatives under the Digital Content Grant (DCG) and Smart Automation Grant (SAG) that have been designed to encourage local SMEs and start-ups to embrace new digital technologies and services which will increase their business productivity and sustainability.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 The Selangor government today launched an RM5 million SME Digital Matching Grant to encourage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the state to go digital.
The initiative is aimed at helping SMEs accelerate the digitalisation of their business operations to weather the Covid-19 storm.
The Selangor state government is providing a 50 per cent matching grant or a maximum of RM5,000 for SMEs to subscribe to the following digitalisation areas: e-Commerce, human resource and the payroll system as well as cloud accounting, digital marketing, and electronic point of sale system, and payment gateway.
