Federal Government delivers funding to establish Cybersecurity Aid Centre in Parramatta
The Federal Government has announced $745,920 in new funding for Western Sydney University to establish the ‘Cybersecurity Aid Centre’ to train and support small business with Cyber Incident Response.
Funded through the Cyber Security Business Connect and Protect Grants Program, the Centre will be located in Parramatta and led by Western Sydney University in partnership with four leading New South Wales cybersecurity businesses: Emergence, Gridware, DCEncompass and Secolve.
The Training Centre will provide Cyber Incident Response support for small businesses experiencing data breach, ransomware or email business compromise, and will host training seminars around the State of NSW.

Deloitte economist Chris Richardson said the government is banking on essentially beginning the process of “repairing the budget” by “repairing the economy” - and this means spending.
“The economic recovery is better than people think it is and that’s important because it was such a deep and sudden downturn,” he said.
“The best way to repair the budget is actually to have an economic recovery. We broadly know that there is extra money coming in the budget.”

The Federal Government has pledged $745, 920 in funds for a new cybersecurity centre to help train and support Australian small businesses to deal with Cyber-attacks. While the announcement is welcome news for Australian businesses, it also spells good news for consumers that will benefit from better data security.
The Cybersecurity Aid Centre will be located in Parramatta, NSW, and run by Western Sydney University. Funding for the program will form part of the Cyber Security Business Connect and Protect Grants Program, a government initiative that connects businesses with trusted cyber security companies to improve their cyber awareness.
