Canton Repository staff report The Canton Repository won more than 15 writing and photography awards in the 2020 Ohio Associated Press Media Editors newspaper contest. The organization announced the finalists Tuesday. The awards in order of finish first, second and third places will be announced at a later date, along with the General Excellence, Hall of Fame, Rising Star and First Amendment winners.  Photographer Scott Heckel received six individual awards and is up for the honor of Best Photographer. He also is being recognized in the  Best News Photo, Best Feature Photo, Best Sports Photo and Best Photo Story categories. Two of his photo essays are among the three finalists in the Best Photo Story category.
