[BREAKING] Twitter India appoints Vinay Prakash as Interim Resident Grievance Officer
In a reply filed before the Delhi High Court, the social media company had earlier submitted that it would be appointing a new interim grievance officer by June 11.

Twitter India has appointed
Vinay Prakash as its new interim Resident Grievance Officer.
The move comes days after the Delhi High Court directed interim officers appointed by Twitter Inc under the
Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (IT Rules, 2021) to file affidavits stating that they will be responsible for dealing with any grievances raised.
On June 21, Twitter s earlier interim grievance officer, Dharmendra Chatur, withdrew from the post.

Twitter India has appointed an Indian national as its officer for grievances redressal required under the new digital rules of the country. On its website, Twitter named Vinay Prakash as its Resident Grievance officer and provided an email contact id. The appointment comes amid a huge stand-off with the government as the new rules came into effect.
“In compliance with Rule 4(1)(d) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, we have published our inaugural report on July 11, 2021 for the reporting period from May 26, 2021 through to June 25, 2021,” the social media giant also said in its transparency centre page.

Twitter recently appointed Vinay Prakash as the Resident Grievance Officer of the social media platform for India. All the details regarding the Grievance Officer can be found on Twitter’s help center.
“Pursuant to Article 4(d) of India’s Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, Twitter is required to publish a monthly report regarding our handling of complaints from users in India, including action taken on them, as well as the number of URLs that Twitter has taken action as a result of proactive monitoring efforts,” wrote Twitter.
