A drunk driver that drove his truck off the Coronado Bridge and killed four people at Chicano Park has been released from prison after serving less than three years of a nearly 10 year sentence.
Richard Anthony Sepolio
Richard Anthony Sepolio, now 28, had been drinking before driving to work at NAS North Island on October 15, 2016. A US Navy Petty Officer at the time, Sepolio lost control of his truck on the bridge on-ramp from Northbound I-5. His truck fell down onto people attending an event at Chicano Park, killing four people and injuring seven others.
Sepolio was sentenced to nine year and eight months in prison, but was released after serving only two year and 10 months. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) cited good behavior credits and its current policy of releasing non-violent inmates due to the COVID-19 pandemic as reasons for the shortened sentence.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Fresno County s top prosecutor has penned a letter to her counterpart in Los Angeles County, telling him that a series of controversial directives he issued upon taking office last month are “extreme and “already wreaking havoc on crime victims.
The letter, dated Monday, is the second that George Gascon has been sent in recent weeks in which a district attorney from another county has refused to grant him jurisdiction in cases involving defendants accused of committing crimes in the counties they represent.
Last week, Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert characterized many of Gascon s directives as “illegal and unconstitutional a contention repeated again by Fresno County D.A. Lisa A. Smittcamp.

California cop who blinded woman on one eye with beanbag round not charged with crime Joseph Wilkinson
A Southern California police officer who shot a 59-year-old Black woman with a beanbag round, leaving her blind in one eye, will not face criminal charges.
Eric Knudson hit Leslie Furcron with the round during May 30 protests against police brutality outside the La Mesa Police Department in the northeast San Diego suburb.
San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan’s office reviewed the incident and said Knudson’s action was reasonable considering the chaotic scene outside the department that night.
Protesters gathered there five days after Minneapolis police officers killed George Floyd, part of a nationwide reaction to police killings of Black people. After briefly leaving for a march, they returned that evening. Furcron joined them and began filming a Facebook Live video around 8 p.m.
