Vaccination with WHO Approved Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine Begins on Friday 21 May, 2021 Port of Spain, 19 May 2021: Members of the public are advised that the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout will continue from  Friday 21 May, 2021. 50,000 eligible persons will be vaccinated with the World Health Organisation (WHO) approved Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, which was manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co. Limited. This vaccine is a 2 shot vaccine given          3 to 4 weeks apart. Globally, 65 million doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine have already been administered through various emergency use programmes. All persons who fall within the Phase 1 of the national COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment Plan, as indicated below, are eligible to receive the vaccine at this time:

Photo by Vidya Thurab HEALTH Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has said of the 41,000-plus people to receive the covid19 vaccine in Trinidad and Tobago, around 36,000 were those 60 and older. He was speaking at the Health Ministry’s virtual press conference on Wednesday morning. The first group of people to receive the vaccine was frontline healthcare workers, followed by those over 60 with non-communicable diseases (NCDs), then those without. Eligibility was also then extended to MPs and their spouses, frontline national security personnel, members of the media and other groups.

But she admitted, “In all honesty, I was somewhat sceptical.” She said she came from a family where they avoided taking mediction and depended heavily on herbs and natural remedies for healing.
