Cincinnati news to know this week

Election Day is here Issue 3, a controversial charter amendment that would require Cincinnati to devote $50 million a year to affordable housing, is, arguably, the biggest item on Tuesday s ballot.  If Issue 3 passes, it means Cincinnati – a city of 300,000 – will spend more than half a billion dollars on affordable housing over the next decade since the amendment rises with inflation, writes Enquirer reporter Hannah Sparling.  Proponents say the city has to do something about the issue. Opponents say the measure will force layoffs and cuts to police and fire services.  We ll have full election coverage on Cincinnati.com Tuesday night, including live results.

COVID-19 vaccine walk-in, appointments near me: Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky

Health officials keep fine-tuning their tactics as they push to get 80% of the Cincinnati region s adults vaccinated against the novel coronavirus. Use The Enquirer’s guide to vaccination to find a shot either by walking in or through an appointment.  In Ohio and Kentucky, anyone 16 and older is eligible for a vaccination, and in many cases, you do not need an appointment. A reminder for parents and teens: The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the only vaccine currently approved for 16- and 17-year-olds. Parental approval also is needed. In Ohio, use gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov to get links to providers. Go to Vaxchat.ohio.gov to talk with a vaccine-support virtual assistant.
