The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it would do everything within its powers to ensure the timeous completion of the $3.6bn Integrated Gas Processing and Methanol Plant in Odioma, Brass Island, Bayelsa State.

NNPC, led by Mele Kyari, its group managing director, signed the agreement with its partners at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, on Friday.
The project will be implemented by the Brass Fertiliser and Petrochemical Company Limited (BFPCL), an incorporated entity owned by the NNPC, DSV Engineering, and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
In a statement, Kennie Obateru, the group general manager of NNPC public affairs division, said the facility is projected to be the largest methanol plant in Africa and the first in Nigeria.

The decision of the federal government to harvest mobile phone numbers of millions of Nigerians and harmonise all of these into a single database, is a brilliant, long overdue move, make no mistake.
Linking phone numbers to NIN and having everyone’s mobile phone number captured in the National Identity Database would help the government plan and better implement people-oriented policies, help security agencies nip crimes in the bud, help law enforcement and intelligence agencies to better tackle terrorism and enable a seamless rollout of development initiatives for the mass of the people.
