APH typically gets 12,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine each week. Recently, it also started getting 1,000 dose shipments of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. “Luckily, the majority of the vaccine that Austin Public Health receives and administers is Moderna. So, we have a very small number of doses that we’ve given of Johnson & Johnson and that we have of Johnson & Johnson,” said Dr. Escott.

Texas AG threatens to sue Austin officials if they don t lift mask mandates

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threatened to sue local officials who don't comply with Gov. Greg Abbott's latest coronavirus-related executive order, which lifted mask mandates across the state. Paxton's ire was specifically directed at Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Travis County Judge Andy Brown, who said Tuesday that masks were still required inside businesses in the city and county and violators would remain subject to a $2,000 fine. They argued keeping the local mandate was allowable because it was developed by a public health authority, rather than the city council or Travis County Commissioners Court. But Paxton pushed back on that idea and said he would give them until 6 p.m. CT to reverse course or else he'll take them to court, sarcastically wondering on Twitter whether they were suffering from "oxygen deprivation" because of their masks. City/county leaders must not be thinking clearly. Maybe it’s oxygen deprivation from quintuple-maskin

Officials: Burn ban issued for Travis County, expires April 7

Officials: Burn ban issued for Travis County, expires April 7 By Lauren Reid TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas - A burn ban has been issued for Travis County.  The burn ban goes into effect March 9 and will expire on Wednesday, April 7, unless further action is taken by the county judge or county fire marshal prior to that date. The historic winter storm we experienced last month led to a significant amount of vegetation dying or being freeze-burned. The dry vegetation, combined with high winds and low humidity levels, can be a recipe for disaster, said Travis County Chief Fire Marshal Tony Callaway. With gusty winds in the forecast in coming days, small fires can easily spread. Therefore, it’s necessary to issue a new burn ban.
