Vulnerable families start getting covid19 relief food baskets Saturday 8 May 2021 Soem of food items to be given to MPs for distribution to their constituents hardest hit by the covid19 restrictions. - Namdevco Government is expected to spend $10 million dollars in the latest food basket initiative to assist families affected by the latest covid19 restrictions. On Friday, the Prime Minister said the initiative will help 25,000 families with food items such as sweet potato, dasheen, cassava, plantain, squash, pineapple, citrus, paw paw, cucumbers, bodi, sweet pepper, hot pepper, tomatoes and chicken, with slight variations in the packages. Minister of Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries Clarence Rambharat told Sunday Newsday via telephone on Saturday that the food baskets would be provided to people who were specifically affected by the restrictions imposed from May 3 to May 23.

Two Trinis among 18 WI Women contracted by CWI Anisa Mohammed - CRICKET West Indies (CWI) has expanded the number of West Indies Women’s players offered retainer contracts for the 2021/2022 season to a record 18 players. A CWI media release on Thursday said this is an increase of three retainer contracts compared to the 2020/2021 season, with contracts offered for the first time to developing young players – Kaysia Schultz and Qiana Joseph. Shawnisha Hector, who was previously contracted, has been given another contract for the upcoming year. The three players will join the 15 retained players from the 2020/2021 season, including captain Stafanie Taylor, dynamic all-rounder Deandra Dottin and the leading T20 International wicket-taker Anisa Mohammed. Mohammed and Karishma Ramharack are the two TT players contracted.

In a statement issued by the TT franchise, Hosein, Lendl Simmons, Sunil Narine and Colin Munro were among a talented pool of 13 players who were retained by the 2020 winners. Hosein, 28, was selected to TKR in round ten of the 2019 CPL Draft and gradually worked his way into the squad’s starting 11 for the 2020 edition.
