TUESDAY: 6 COVID-19 Cases Reported Across Kenai Peninsula, 156 Statewide

Kenai (4), Eagle River (3), North Pole (3), Ketchikan (2), Soldotna (2), Wrangell (2), Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area (2), and one each in Bristol Bay/ Lake and Peninsula, Copper River Census Area, Dillingham Census Area, Healy, Houston, Juneau, Sitka, Tok, and Unalaska.   Unalaska: 20 with purpose seafood Homer: one with purpose under investigation   One resident case was added and one nonresident case was subtracted from the dashboard due to data verification procedures bringing the total number of Alaska resident cases to 62,681 and the total number of nonresident cases to 2,655.   HOSPITALIZATIONS & DEATHS – There have been a total of 1,404 resident hospitalizations and 310 resident deaths, with fifteen new hospitalization and no new deaths reported.

Alaska on Tuesday reported 156 coronavirus infections and no COVID-19-related deaths, according to data from the Department of Health and Social Services. Although case counts and hospitalizations in Alaska remain below what they were during a peak in November and December, the state’s average daily case rate have been increasing in recent weeks. Most regions in the state are still in the highest alert category based on their current per capita rate of infection.

All of the cases were travel related. According to a press release from the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation, all residents and their households have been advised to isolate. The state epidemiology team has begun contact tracing. In Dillingham, COVID-19 tests are available from 12 noon to 6:30 p.m. near the airport at the Capstone Clinic in the Freshwater Adventures building. People 16 and older in Bristol Bay can receive vaccines for the virus in all communities from BBAHC. Appointments to schedule vaccinations can be made in Dillingham by calling (907) 842-9440 or by contacting your local health clinic.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 249 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, eight of which were among nonresidents. The state reported no additional deaths of Alaska residents tied to the virus. The state remains in high alert status, according to the average daily rate of cases per 100,000 of population over the last two weeks. Six of the state’s major regions, including the Municipality of Anchorage, are in the high alert status, which, according to the state, indicates widespread transmission of the virus.
