LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) The Walt Disney Company on Thursday reported a revenue of 16.24 billion U.S. dollars for its fiscal first quarter of 2021, down 22 percent year over year as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Diluted earnings per share (EPS) from continuing operations for the quarter decreased 98 percent to 0.02 dollars from 1.17 dollars in the prior-year quarter. Excluding certain items affecting comparability, diluted EPS for the quarter decreased 79 percent to 0.32 dollars from 1.53 dollars in the prior-year quarter, according to a Disney press release.
The U.S. entertainment giant noted that results in the quarter ended Jan. 2, 2021 were adversely impacted by the novel coronavirus.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Walt Disney World Resort, other Orlando attractions, and hotels are trying to attract locals for spring break with never-before-seen deals.
Disney is offering Florida residents a four-day ticket for about $50 a day. The regular price is more than $120. Disney traditionally do things like bundle free dining in with a hotel but they don’t usually discount tickets as deeply as they are right now, said Seth Kubersky, Co-author of Unofficial Guides book series.

Disney World on Friday stated that COVID-19-vaccinated guests are still required to wear a mask.
Some fans seemed surprised that the Florida resort had to clarify the mask-wearing rule.
The policy is in line with the CDC, which says masks and distancing are still needed post-vaccine.
Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, on Friday updated its mask policy to specify that people who have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine are still required to wear them, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
