Yara Shahidi continues to flex her power behind the Hollywood scenes and will help bring author Cole Brown’s debut book
Greyboy: Finding Blackness in a White World to television.
ABC Signature acquired the rights to the book through a competitive bid. Yara and her mother Keri Shahidi will develop the series for TV and executive produce via their 7th Sun Productions, as part of their overall deal with the studio, a part of Disney Television Studios.
Released in 2020, the book is Brown’s personal memoir of the life of a Philadelphia kid who matured in the city’s predominantly white private schools and neighborhoods. He began writing his first book while an undergraduate at Georgetown University.

Just Beyond is an anthology series that will tell astonishing and thought-provoking stories of a reality just beyond the one we know. Each episode introduces viewers to a new cast of characters who must go on a surprising journey of self-discovery in a supernatural world of witches, aliens, ghosts and parallel universes.
First published in 2019, the novels center on middle school kids coming across a variety of terrors, with the first seeing a group of kids learning about a terrifying creature and a gateway to a horrifying dimension lurking in their school while the second deals with two Martians crash-landing on Earth and hijacking two kid’s bodies and the third focusing on two siblings joining their uncle on a scientific expedition to a remote island, only to come across a deadly beast.

Linear TV viewing also rose, it s true, but the existing fault lines between pay TV/broadcast and streaming services became chasms.
