After more than a year of being closed, California s theme parks are finally allowed to reopen, and while only a limited number of visitors are allowed, and for the most part only guest in California can visit the parks, after being shuttered for so long, it s progress. However, while parks have been allowed to open since April 1, many of them, including DIsneyland, still remain closed. Disneyland will finally open next Friday, but guests are already visiting Southern California s other big theme park, Universal Studios Hollywood, which was able to get the jump on the house of mouse.

California theme parks have begun to reopen their gates after being closed for more than a year due to the pandemic. At first, only those living in California were allowed to visit the theme parks. Now state officials are welcoming out of state visitors with restrictions. The California Department of Public Health recently revised its Blueprint for a Safer Economy, which would allow out of state visitors so long as they are fully vaccinated.
While it is now okay for out of state visitors to visit certain theme parks in California, you may want to check what each park is doing. Sea World was the first to allow out of state visitors who are fully vaccinated. Disneyland Resort has not changed its policy, and will be restricted to California residents for now. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will reopen on April 30, while Knott s Berry Farm will reopen on May 6 for its season passholders, and May 21 for all other guests. Disneyland and some other California theme parks are dealing with some confusion surrounding their COVID reopening rules. When news of Disney’s California Adventure and Six Flags Magic Mountain accepting new ticket reservations broke, fans were ecstatic. However, there has been some pause among the celebrations. California might be inching closer to being open for business, but that doesn’t mean it’s anything goes. People from out of state want to visit Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm too. But, the current guidelines have a bit of a grey area when it comes to tourists from other states. Paying customers want clarity, but that may not come as quickly as they’d like. Some experts believe that the wording on sites like Disney’s will change relatively soon. But for now, the letter of the law is locals only.
