The National Board of Examination (NBE) has responded to an article in TOI about two candidates with very low ranks being given DNB seats in some of the most sought after institutions stating that these were not a case of “backdoor entry”.
According to NBE, after allotting these students immunohaematology and blood transfusion in Nayati Hospital in Mathura, when the accreditation to the hospital was withdrawn, it was found that there were no vacant seats in the same specialty available anywhere in 2020 and in the three years before that. Since all rounds of counselling including the mop-up round were completed, “as a last resort and in the interest of the trainees as there was no fault of the trainees in this matter and they could not have been allowed to suffer, NBE allowed them to choose their specialty and seat from the vacant available left over seats”.
The vaccination drive began three hours late at Lok Nayak Hospital due to the presence of only two people when the minimum requirement is for nine recipients.
NEW DELHI: There was a drop in turnout of healthcare workers for vaccination on the second day of the drive with only 3,598 individuals of 8,136 listed turning out at the 81 vaccination centres.
Though 53% of the scheduled people had received the jab last Saturday, only 44% lined up on Monday. According to a government report, none of the 239 people administered Covaxin at six centres had adverse reactions, while only 24 of the 3,359 given Covishield at 75 centres reported adverse events.

Delhi Fire Service (DFS) Director Atul Garg said the fire broke out on the third floor of the factory where machines and raw materials were kept.

A 45-year-old man died in a fire at a mask manufacturing factory in west Delhi’s Mayapuri area early Saturday morning, a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said. A call about the fire was received around 3.50 am, and six fire tenders were rushed to the spot, he said.
DFS Director Atul Garg said fire officials broke down the door of the factory and rescued three people, one of whom was unconscious. The man was taken to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where he was declared brought dead, he said, adding that he was identified as Jugal Kishor.
