Nicole Guerrero oversees the Texas Health and Human Services system’s Office of Audit and Compliance.
Before taking on the role, Guerrero served as the division’s chief deputy director. She was also the Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Internal Audit director before transformation merged five agencies into two.
Before joining HHS in 2014, Guerrero worked as an audit manager for the Texas State Auditor’s Office. She has 26 years of audit experience, including 23 years in audit management.
Guerrero has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Xavier University in New Orleans and a Master of Business Administration from Texas State University in San Marcos. She is also a Certified Internal Auditor.

Organizations throughout the community are continuing their efforts to provide warmth and meals to those affected by the freezing weather. On Friday morning, Texans Recovering Together provided meals and warm blankets in El Cenizo and Rio Bravo.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has received federal approval to allow Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients to apply for replacement benefits for food lost or destroyed due to the severe winter weather.
“I thank our federal partners for swiftly approving SNAP benefit replacements for food lost or destroyed in the wake of this winter weather disaster,” said Gov. Abbott. “This support is essential to help Texans continue to provide nutritious meals for their families in these challenging times.”
