BONHAM â Fannin County is one step closer to transferring Bond Supervision to Fannin County Adult Probation, a state department, after further discussion Tuesday between the Commissionersâ Court and Adult Probation director Corey Baker.
The matter originally came before commissioners Jan. 12, and after discussion with Baker and Bond Supervisor Donna Lester, it was tabled so commissioners could research what it would take to transfer the department. The transfer request was tabled again Tuesday so a written agreement for the transfer can be drafted. County Judge Randy Moore also suggested the commissioners seek input from Texas Association of Counties.
During the Jan. 12 meeting, Lester told commissioners sheâs been unable to keep up with a massive and growing workload, which includes seeing 40 to 50 people per day, adding 30 to 40 cases per month and answering seemingly endless phone calls. (Seguin) – Guadalupe County will soon welcome a new human resources director. The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court recently appointed Leticia Mejia as the county’s new HR director. Mejia was selected from a pool of applicants all looking to fill the shoes of longtime HR Director Cheraun Blankenship. Blankeship, who was eligible for retirement in years with the county, has moved on and has accepted a job with the Texas Association of Counties.
Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher says Mejia bring years of experience to the county’s operation.

Cooke County Judge Jason Brinkley has thrown his hat into the ring for the upcoming Texas House District 68 race.
Brinkley made the announcement on social media and via press release Sunday afternoon, Dec. 20.
The HD-68 seat is held by Rep. Drew Springer, R-Muenster. However, Springer was elected to the Texas Senate District 30 seat in a special election runoff Saturday, Dec. 19, beating his opponent Shelley Luther of Pilot Point.
Springer is expected to turn in his resignation for his current post soon, creating a vacancy for HD-68 and another special election.
As of press time, Gov. Greg Abbott had not announced when the HD-68 election would be, according to Cooke County Clerk Pam Harrison.
