Notice for on-campus COVID-19 vaccine clinics released

The Texas Department of Emergency Management made a release April 29 regarding the upcoming campus vaccination clinics hosted by the department and United Supermarkets. According to the notice, the clinics will be open and free to all Texas Tech students, faculty, and staff. The clinic hosted by TDEM will be held inside the atrium in the Student Union, while the clinics by United will be held in United Supermarkets Arena, using the student entrance on the southeast corner. According to the release, the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine will be distributed in all clinics. Additionally, the United Supermarkets clinics on May 10, 12, and 13 will also provide the Moderna second dose for those that took part in clinics earlier this month. Participants do not need to register or make an appointment before the clinic.

The 10 day pause on the J&J vaccine was lifted six days ago. However, Midwestern State University officials say as soon as it was announced that is was safe they went right back to offering students a chance to get a shot through campus-wide vaccine clinics.

El Paso mayor, county judge say vaccine demand reducing while supply increases EL PASO, Texas At a news conference Friday, Mayor Oscar Leeser and County Judge Ricardo Samaniego said El Paso is starting to see a decline in demand for the Covid-19 vaccine, but the community is still “pro-vaccination.” The officials said there is no longer a wait list for people to get vaccinated through the EP Covid vaccine website. At one point, there had been more than 300,000 registrations. “We’ve gone through that list,” said Leeser, indicating that the city was able to go through that list “quickly” because many people were double, even triple registered. Many had also already received the vaccine at other locations by the time the city had reached out to them to schedule an appointment.
