McAllen woman to receive life-saving COVID-19 therapy after her son writes to Gov. Abbott
The therapy is available in major Texas cities, like Dallas and Houston, but has not been available at the hospital in the Rio Grande Valley where the woman has spent the past few weeks fighting the virus.

A McAllen woman hospitalized with COVID-19 is set to receive a life-saving COVID-19 treatment after her son wrote a letter to Gov. Greg Abbott that went viral online.
Free COVID-19 Testing Continues In Tyler & Palestine
While the rollout for the COVID-19 vaccine continues to trickle into East Texas, COVID hospitalizations in East Texas continue to be at high levels that s why free testing for the virus is still ongoing in locations in Tyler and Palestine.
The Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) are providing free walk-up COVID-19 testing opportunities for anyone with or without COVID-19 symptoms.
In Tyler, the walk-up testing site will take place at St. Louis Baptist Church, located at 4000 Frankston Hwy. from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.

With Parrish s recent recovery from his bout with COVID-19, Curtis talked about how COVID-19 has affected Lubbock. The county judge said that we have been losing some of our best and brightest to the virus, such as some of our wiser elderly population who have been married for decades, some of his older church members, and even some of Curtis s friends, and he said that it has been absolutely heartbreaking, but that there will come a point where we can collectively grieve.
Share The Hill County Commissioners Court met in a brief special session Tuesday, January 19. Commissioners voted to rescind former court orders awarding bids for the construction of a new Precinct 3 maintenance barn in Penelope and a bridge over Brooken Creek on HCR 3206. The court will accept bids for the projects again after determining that the requests were not properly advertised the first time. County Judge Justin Lewis also updated commissioners on an effort to increase COVID-19 vaccine availability to Hill County residents. Although the county is not in charge of the vaccine rollout, Lewis said that the county worked with Ascension Medical Group Providence Clinic and Hill Regional Hospital to develop a proposal that was submitted to the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM).
