After having all of its COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinic slots fill up fast, Memorial Hermann announced around 6 p.m. on Friday it will open extra ones.
The spots were added to the schedule for Jan. 16 and Jan. 17, according to a release from the hospital. After about an hour, the hospital announced they had all been taken.
Memorial Hermann is teaming up with NRG Park to offer a COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinic on Thursday, but all the available appointments have been reserved.

Courtesy photo As the rush and search for COVID-19 vaccines continues, the City of Houston has added a new mega-center for inoculations. Mayor Sylvester Turner announced that the Houston Health Department will utilize Minute Maid Park as a vaccination mega-site on Saturday, January 16. As with other mega-sites, such as NRG Park, appointments are required in order to be immunized. Houston Health tweeted that appointment and schedule updates will be available via its website.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) COVID-19 vaccination appointments filled up within 20 minutes of the announcement being made that slots were available for Saturday, Jan. 16 at Minute Maid Park, which is serving as a mega site.
The Houston Health Department said Friday that it was able to offer about 2,600 new appointments for those who meet Phase 1A or 1B of state criteria.
The portal opened at 10 a.m.
Eighteen minutes later, the slots were filled. The department said it plans to announce more opportunities as supply increases.
