Three Red Raiders Invited to 2021 NFL Virtual Combine
Texas Tech will have three Red Raiders taking part in the newly structured 2021 NFL Scouting Combine with Jack Anderson, TJ Vasher and Zech McPhearson all receiving invites for the virtual event scheduled to take place in March.
The combine has been a fixture for draft prospects in Indianapolis for many years, but this year it will be a virtual combine with all of the workouts scheduled to be at individual pro days. The Combine will feature invited participants interviewing with NFL personnel virtually.
All three of Texas Tech s invited participants have been busy this offseason. Anderson spent the week at the Reese s Senior Bowl. McPhearson played in the Hula Bowl. Vasher took part in a five-day showcase for draft prospects in Fort Worth.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have been on an incredible run since 2018. Three straight AFC Championship games, an MVP for Mahomes and a Lombardi Trophy. Sunday night, however, the Chiefs ran into a buzzsaw in the Bucs defensive front seven and some guy named Tom Brady.
For the first time in Mahomes NFL career, the Chiefs lost by more than one possession, with the Bucs beating Kansas City 31-9 to win Super Bowl LV.
Tom Brady was an efficient picture of beauty with zero pressure. The Bucs rushing attack and short passing attack dominated the Chiefs defense along, with some untimely penalties by the Chiefs defense. When the Chiefs were on offense, Mahomes was running for his life, routinely looking like he did while he was a Red Raider, only without the miraculous catches on the other end of his crazy throws.
Several Red Raiders Follow Alan Bowman Into the Transfer Portal
When the semester started back on January 20th for the student-athletes at Texas Tech University, the transfer portal seemed quiet for the Red Raiders. After reports of a mass exodus potentially happening after the Kanas game, there was certainly a feeling that more than former starters like KeSean Carter and Alex Hogan would be making the trek to the portal.
Before last Friday, those reports seemingly seemed debunked. After all, AD Kirby Hocutt himself had shot down the rumor in his press conference with Dr. Lawrence Schovanec when the pair reasserted that Matt Wells was the guy and Hocutt hadn t had a meeting with the team. Then, Alan Bowman entered the portal.
