As Texas becomes an increasingly urban state, it is easy to overlook the vital role played by rural Texas. Put plainly, rural Texas is central to providing the food, fiber and fuel for our country.
As chancellor of the Texas Tech University System and former president of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, I have a unique perspective on rural Texas. I not only know the vital economic role our cotton farmers, ranchers and energy wildcatters play in advancing our state’s economy, but also just how pivotal the Texas Tech University System is to the needs of urban and suburban students and families.

SAN ANGELO, TX (12/10/2020)- - Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean’s List designation for the 2020 fall semester, including Payton Meade of Olney.
To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

SAN ANGELO, TX (12/17/2020) Angelo State University conferred 150 undergraduate degrees and 147 graduate degrees to its summer 2020 graduates that were recognized in a virtual commencement Dec. 6.
Graduates include Grace Luttrell of Gilmer, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre.
