Lonnie Hollingsworth, president of the National Association of Retail Druggists (now NCPA) in 1986-87, passed away Jan. 18 in Lubbock, Texas. He went on to serve as treasurer of the NCPA Foundation Board. Hollingsworth, 88, also served as president of the Texas Pharmacy Association and the West Texas Pharmacists Association, which he helped found. He was named Texas Pharmacist of the year in 1981 and 2001 and served as chairman of the Dean s Advisory Council for the University of Texas School of Pharmacy and served on the Dean s Advisory Council for the Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy. Hollingsworth won the NCPA Foundation’s prestigious John W. Dargavel Medal in 2007. He was a remarkable person, a self-made man who worked his way through college and was valedictorian of his class.
