Brad Buckley said his bill would protect consumers, including vegetarians and vegans, from buying something by mistake.

11 May 2021 Plant-based and additional meatless products are accused of misleading buyers under a bill the Texas House approved Monday. “Texas is the latest state to debate measures that would prohibit foods that don’t contain animal products from using words like ‘meat’ or ‘beef’ in their name,” the Dallas Morning Newsreported. The bill was approved following a debate but needs one additional vote in the House to move on to the Texas Senate. According to Rep. Brad Buckley, his bill would help protect consumers, including vegetarians and vegans, from purchasing a product by mistake. “This is for those who choose to eat meat, but it’s also for those who choose to not eat meat,” explained Buckley, a Killeen Republican who helps manage a small cattle operation.

Texas A&M, industry usher in new era for poultry science

Feb 01, 2021 Emerging partnerships with the poultry industry have Texas A&M University poised to bolster an already nationally recognized department of poultry science. Patrick Stover, Ph.D., vice chancellor of  Texas A&M AgriLife, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and director of  Texas A&M AgriLife Research, announced recently that more than $850,000 in financial commitments have been designed to draw faculty and deliver infrastructure improvements to the top poultry department in the nation. Stover also hopes to see this number grow throughout the future as part of the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Science’s commitment to the poultry science department.
