(WXYZ) â Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon has died at the age of 65 after a battle with COVID-19, 7 Action News has learned. Napoleon was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Nov. 19 and hospitalized two days later.
He was born in Detroit in 1955 and was entwined with Wayne County long before his public service. A Cass Tech grad, Napoleon received degrees from Detroit Mercy and Detroit College of Law before the start of his tenured law enforcement career in 1975.

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. Benny Napoleon, the sheriff of Wayne County in Michigan and a former Detroit police chief who ran unsuccessfully for mayor of the city, died on Thursday in a hospital there. He was 65.

Who was Benny Napoleon?
He was one of seven children.
He attended Cass Technical High School before receiving degrees from the University of Detroit and the Detroit College of Law.
He then joined the Detroit Police Department in 1975 and began rising through the ranks.

A high profile attorney from Livingston County has passed away.
Neal Neilsen passed away on Friday, December 11th. No other details are currently known. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1971 and earned his law degree at the Detroit College of Law. Neilsen worked in the Livingston County Prosecutorâs Office as a chief assistant prosecutor but later went into private practice. His law firm was located in Brighton and garnered many awards over the years. Neilsen also represented various local municipalities and entities throughout his career, including most recently Oceola Township and the Brighton Area Fire Authority. He served on the University of Michigan Board of Regents from 1984-1992.

Bockhausen is a retired assistant division commander for the State Police and a former lieutenant, sergeant, and trooper.
