Detroit schools to reopen classrooms for K-12 beginning March 8

Detroit schools to reopen classrooms for K-12 beginning March 8 Detroit Public Schools will reopen classrooms in all grades to students beginning March 8, Superintendent Nikolai Vitti said in an email to teachers. As a reminder, all teachers and Detroit Federation of Teachers ancillary staff have the option of working in-person for the rest of this school year, Vitti wrote. Students and families will also continue to have an option of in-person or online learning as well this school year. Detroit schools have been in online-only learning since Nov. 16, when rising COVID-19 caseloads prompted the district to close classrooms.  With vaccines being administered and case volumes falling, the district on Wednesday reopened earning centers across the city, giving students a place to drop in for help and technical assistance.
