With traffic backed up on the I-275 ramp, a driver attempted to bypass stopped vehicles when he came up a state trooper waiting for a tow truck. The driver attempted to wedge himself between police and a semi-truck, hitting both.

DETROIT The death of a 61-year-old inmate at the Detroit Detention Center Saturday morning is under investigation by the Michigan State Police, authorities said Monday.
A combined task force of Michigan State Police and Detroit Police detectives are investigating the death of the male inmate, which was reported around 9 a.m. Saturday, Michigan State Police officials said.

State police officials said Monday that detectives would be reviewing video and audio and interviewing witnesses. Authorities are awaiting the results of the medical examiner and a cause of death has not been released.
Man dies at Detroit Detention Center days after drug possession arrest
The man was discovered about 7:50 a.m. Saturday at Detroit s city jail, 17601 Mound Road.
Michigan State Police will investigate the man s death. Lt. Mike Shaw, spokesman and commander for the state police in Metro Detroit, said police are awaiting the Wayne County Medical Examiner s Office report.
The medical examiner s office did not immediately respond to a request for information.
The corrections department says the man who died was arrested Thursday for drug possession.
The Michigan Department of Corrections runs the facility on a contract basis for the Detroit Police Department. The agreement dates back to August 2013.
2 men shot in separate overnight incidents on Detroit s west side
Detroit Police are investigating two separate shootings overnight on Detroit s west side.
At about 2:20 a.m., a 25-year-old man was sitting in his black Chevy Monte Carlo when another man approached and fired shots, said Latrice Crawford, a spokeswoman for Detroit Police Department.
The shooting took place on the 8800 block of Memorial, north of Joy Road and east of the Southfield Freeway.
Police say a 53-year-old man, who lives down the street from the shooting scene, was arrested. He s at Detroit Detention Center pending possible criminal charges from the Wayne County Prosecutor s Office.
