QLINE announces plans to restart streetcar services in late summer
After nearly a year of keeping the streetcars parked, the QLINE expects to resume full services late this summer, M-1 Rail announced in a donor report Monday.
Detroit s streetcar system along Woodward Avenue suspended service indefinitely March 29, days after it attempted to operate at 50% capacity due to coronavirus safety concerns. When retailers and workplaces in the Woodward Corridor made adjustments for the pandemic, including many downtown offices going completely remote, passenger services took a nosedive.
After the QLINE s shut down, passengers were left to rely on Detroit Department of Transportation and Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation buses.
