Recently retired Detroit Police Chief James Craig joined Tucker Carlson Tonight ’ Wednesday to expand on what he sees as the failed leadership of incumbent Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and announce a gubernatorial exploratory committee.
Craig, a Detroit native who spent the past 8 years leading the Motor City s law enforcement force – after tenures in Cincinnati and Portland – said that he protected and served for 44 years and now wants to do the same for the entire state of Michigan. DETROIT (FOX 2) - Retired Detroit Police Chief James Craig told FOX News Tucker Carlson I m running for governor in an interview Wednesday night. I ve got to tell you, I am running, Craig said. When I look at what some politicians are doing across our country, you know, let s talk about Governor Whitmer, she follows different rules. She just does.
This comes shortly after an announcement earlier in the day that an exploratory committee had been formed to start raising funds for a gubernatorial run.

LANSING Former Detroit Police Chief James Craig announced Wednesday he has formed what he called “an exploratory committee” allowing him to raise and spend money for a potential run for governor, but he again stopped short of officially announcing his candidacy.
Craig also released a campaign video titled “Leading From the Front” and announced he will launch a statewide tour to hear from voters.
A formal announcement that he is running for governor will likely occur after Labor Day when voters begin paying closer attention to the 2022 elections, Craig said in a news release.
Wednesday night, Craig appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News, where he again announced the creation of an exploratory committee but at one point said: I m running, and, we re going to take the state back.
