La La Anthony are joining forces to turn the story of former prisoner-turned-criminal justice reform activist Cyntioa Brown into a new TV drama.

The Case of Cyntoia Brown , which will chronicle the story of Brown, who was just 16 when she killed Nashville, Tennessee real estate agent Johnny Allen in 2004 after he solicited her for sex. She was tried as an adult and convicted in 2006, and was ordered to serve life behind bars.
SEVIERVILLE â A program launched in 2020 by former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and his wife, Crissy, brought college students to youth organizations statewide for a summer tutoring program geared to youngsters in grades K-6.
The Tennessee Tutoring Corps returns this year, and all five branches of the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains will again serve as local tutoring sites.
âWe partnered with them last year and saw firsthand how beneficial the program was to our club members,â said Karen Robinette, BGCSMâs director of resource development and marketing. âThe TTC program is offered free of charge to club members at all club sites who are eligible for the program. For the program to be a success, we do need tutors in our area.â

On Wednesday, a resolution that would make the Bible the official state book of Tennessee cleared the state House and is now lumbering into the Senate. In the bill, Republican state Rep. Jerry Sexton argues that the Bible deserves the spot of honor not only because of its impact on the state’s history but also because of the lucrative Christian publishing industry that has flourished in and around Nashville.
“The Holy Bible has great historical and cultural significance in the State of Tennessee as a record of the history of Tennessee families that predates some modern vital statistical records,” the legislation says. “Printing the Bible is a multimillion-dollar industry for the State with many top Bible publishers headquartered in Nashville, including Thomas Nelson, Gideons International and United Methodist Publishing House.”

The head of an organization that lobbies state and local officials for policies that support marriage, families, life, and religious liberty says it would be perfectly legal for the buckle of the Bible Belt to make God s Word the state s official book.
About four years ago, then-Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam (R) vetoed a bill that would have established the Bible as the state book over legal concerns. Now, Representative Jerry Sexton (R) is sponsoring House Joint Resolution 150, the adoption of which Family Action Council of Tennessee (FACT) President David Fowler says would not break any laws.
