House Majority Whip James Clyburn of walks on Capitol Hill in Washington. Among other speakers: Stacey Abrams, whose voter registration and education efforts helped flip Georgia blue for Biden; Representative Cedric Richmond; Congressional Black Caucus Chair Representative Joyce Beatty; Senator Cory Booker; and the incoming senator from Georgia, Reverend Raphael Warnock. The event will pay homage to the legacy of the nation’s historically Black colleges and universities, as well as Black sororities and fraternities. Harris is the first HBCU graduate and Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority member to be vice president. The sorority’s international president and CEO, Dr Glenda Glover, and Howard University President Dr Wayne Frederick will deliver remarks.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Florida A&M Universityâs Marching 100 will perform as part of a Presidential Inaugural Event honoring President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
On Tuesday, the Marching 100 will perform for the âWe Are Oneâ event, which is scheduled from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
The event is hosted by the Presidential Inaugural Committee and will celebrate and honor the Black community with powerful speakers, inspiring stories and entertaining performances, according to the university.
FAMU Band Director Shelby Chipman said that about 150 band members participated in the taping of the performance, which included a rendition of Bill Withersâ âLovely Day.â

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) Tennessee State University’s Aristocrat of Bands will be part of the “We Are One” celebration for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, the school announced on Monday.
The We Are One celebration will be livestreamed on Tuesday night from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
“The Tennessee State University Aristocrat of Bands is very excited to be a part of the inauguration celebration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris,” says Dr. Reginald McDonald, TSU’s director of bands. “In the midst of a very challenging year, our band program continues to display the excellence of Tennessee State University.”
