EVENTS were held by associates from Marriott International Hotels & Resorts in Fiji last week as they joined the global campaign in memory of its late CEO and president Arne M. Sorenson by coming together as a global community to celebrate his life by doing something he loved.
Mr Sorenson became the third CEO in Marriott’s history in 2012, and the first without the Marriott surname, he led the company to strong growth including the $13 billion acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework for Fiji, the first for Fiji, provides a strategic road-map of priority activities for World Bank Group member organizations: the World Bank; the International Finance Corporation (IFC) which focuses on the private sector in developing countries; and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), which offers risk insurance and credit enhancement guarantees.
Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island will reopen Dec. 19 following a $45 million renovation. The resort will feature a new Kid’s Beach Club, a new adolescent zone with more than a dozen games, a new nightclub and revamped rooms, bars and restaurants.
