Suspect in Thibodaux shooting leads deputies on high-speed chase in Houma

A suspect in a Thibodaux shooting was arrested Thursday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through Terrebonne Parish, authorities said.  Emmett Willie Carr Jr., 19, of Houma, is charged with aggravated flight, flight from an officer, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs, obstruction of justice, criminal property damage, hit-and-run driving, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and other drug-related charges, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said.    The pursuit began around 7:15 p.m. Thursday after deputies responded to a police bulletin regarding a suspect vehicle that was involved with a shooting that occurred earlier on Ridgeway Street in Thibodaux, authorities said.

Several media outlets report that the United Cajun Navy crews in Terrebonne received information of a possible body found in the water near a rig or platform in the Gulf. That report sent volunteers and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff s Office out to the location. Sheriff Tim Soignet tells KATC that his department went out to the location and did a search by boat but nothing was found.
