Police at the scene of an incident
The A50 has now reopened after a serious lorry crash at the Blythe Bridge roundabout near Stoke on Trent.
Both carriageways had been closed from around 1.30am, but by 4.29am one eastbound lane had reopened.
Multiple ambulances and police units were at the scene, Highways England previously indicated.
The incident affected traffic on the main road between Stoke-on-Trent, Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter, and on to Burton upon Trent and Derby.
An update by roads monitoring service Inrix at 4.29am said: A50 Westbound closed due to accident, a lorry involved from A522 (Uttoxeter/Upper Tean, Uttoxeter ) to A521 (Blythe Bridge Roundabout/Draycot, Blythe Bridge). The road was closed in both directions after a lorry crashed into the central barrier and crossed on to the other side of the road. Lane one (of two) has reopened eastbound, the westbound side remains closed. Affecting traffic between Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter
