MUNCIE, Ind.  Beginning early next week, people age 80 and older will be eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine in Delaware County. Beginning Friday, those residents could make appointments for their first of two vaccine doses. According to the Delaware County Health Department s website, Indiana is still in Phase 1 of vaccine distribution, meaning there is a limited supply. Currently, those eligible for a vaccine include frontline healthcare workers and medical first responders, as determined by Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). Individuals 80 and older were added to the Phase 1 group on Wednesday by Governor Eric Holcomb.

Delaware County Commissioner James King brought up the issue on Monday during a meeting of the county s governing board, citing that they needed to go in a different direction with the department after what happened. “I’m not very happy with what happened,” King said. The rest of the jobs affected were held by people who retired or found other work.
